RECOVERY OF AUSTRIA
UNDER LEAGUE OF NATIONS. EXTRICATION FROM CHAOS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 2, 8 p.lh.) PARIS, February 1. Successful progress: in the recon struction of Austria under the auspices ef tho League of Nations - was emphasised by all speakers at the mooting of the Council of the League. Lord Balfour described the League’s work in this regard as tho greatest constructive effort so far made to extricate Europe from economic chaos. He appealed to investors to subscribe to the Austrian loan.
Following an appeal by tho Austrian Chancellor, tho Italian, French, and Czecho-Slovakian representatives announced their" willingness to conclude commercial treaties with Austria.
