NEW CURFEW LAW FOR CHILDREN
COMPULSORY HOURS OF SLEEP? Dr. Hutt, medical officer of Hob born, in a lecture at the Royal Institute of Publio Health, suggested the following minimnm hours of sleep for children attending secondary schools: AGES HOURS 8 to 11 11 kl to 14 10* to 10 14 to 16 10 to 9* 16 to. 18 „ 9* to 9 To these hours he added thirty minutes for undressing. He suggested that hours of sleep should be a matter of school discipline. STUDENT BENT FOR TRIAL ALLEGED VENDETTA OF LABEL AGAINST WOMAN DOCTOR. Percy Arnott Wallace, a Manchester medical student, living in Derby, was committed for trial at Leeds for alleged criminal libel against Mr* Winifred Irene Frank, a woman doctor living at Leeds, wife of an engineer and daughter of the Vicar of Holy Trinity, Armley. In September last year Mrs Frank assisted Dr. Alexander Wallace, of Aahton-undor-Lyne, the prisoner’s father. It was alleged that prisoner paid her attentions in spite of being told that she was engaged, and when she became married he stud be would, by blackening her character, make her husband divorce her, and then make her marry himself. Subsequently ' fche left Dr. Wallace, and then, it was alleged, prisoner sent her hundreds of obscene communications, making allegations against her, and threatening to publish and distribute 6000 copies.
