FOOD CONTROL
GERMANS EXPECT SHORTAGE. DRASTIC MEASURES. Reuter’s Telegram. BERLIN, January 18. Drastio food control measures are being prepared by the Ministry of Food in anticipation of a shortage at the end of June. ’ The consumption of milk in cafes and restaurants is forbidden, and the use of butter in preparing food prohibited. The number of meat dishes in all restaurants is to be restricted. Expensive restaurants, where luxurious living has hitherto been rampant, are to be prosecuted. All restaurants are to be closed at 11 o’clock in the evening, instead of 1 o’clock in the morning. MUBSOLINI’S VIEW “ENTIRE DISAPPROVAL.” Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, January 18. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Rome correspondent states that Signor Mussolini entirely disapproves of France's military policy on the Ruhr, which, he considers, will kill all hopes of reparations. 1 Italy needs all she can get as much as France does, but she does not believe in getting it by means of military expeditions, which, instead of enabling Germany to pay, make reparations impossible.
