Mr Henderson, who is one of the leaders of the Labour Party, stood for Widnes, in Lancashire, in December, and was beaten by Dr. C. C. Clayton (Con.) The voting was: Clayton 14,670, Hendorson 12,897. The Newcastle election in December resulted: J. N. Bell (Lab.) 10,084, H. Barnes (Lib.) 6999, G. Slone (Nat. Lib.) 6273.
