ARTHUR HENDERSON ELECTED. NEWCASTLE BY-ELECTION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. Bell, the Labour member elected in December, resulted: Arthur Henderson (Lab.) 11,066 H. Barnes (Ind. Lib.) 6,4t>0 R. Gee, V.C. (Oon.) 4,384
Mr Henderson, who is one of the leaders of the Labour Party, stood for Widnes, in Lancashire, in December, and was beaten by Dr. C. C. Clayton (Con.) The voting was: Clayton 14,670, Hendorson 12,897. The Newcastle election in December resulted: J. N. Bell (Lab.) 10,084, H. Barnes (Lib.) 6999, G. Slone (Nat. Lib.) 6273.
