NO PRESSURE ON FRANCE. MR BOYDEN’S ACTIVITIES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. - (Received January 18, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 17. The “New York Times’’ Washington correspondent says Mr C. E. Hughes, Secretary for State, sent a letter to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee giving a detailed account of the activities of Mr Roland Boyden, the American observer,, acoording to Senator Robinson’s resolution asking for such information, and the suggestion for the appointment of an official Amerioan member of the Reparations Commission. It is understood the letter, which has not been published, points out that the Government is well satisfied with Mr Boyden’s activities, and has no intention of recalling him. The Administration also feels that it is inadvisable at this time to appoint an official representative on the Reparations Commission. The inquiry developed the fact that the United States i 6 not now co-opera-ting with Britain or Italy in any effort to bring pressure to bear on France.
