THE GEOLOGICAL SECTION. ADDITIONAL PAPERB. Section O (Geology) of Hie Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science will have a busy time during the forthcoming meeting, which opens on Thursday. In addition to the papers mentioned in the ‘Times,” Dr. C. E. Adams, Government Astronomer, will contribute a paper entitled, ’‘Recent Earth-. 1 quakes in New Zealand,” and Mr H. J. Finlay, M.-Sc., of Dunedin, two papers on Tertiary Palaeontology. Dr. W. R. Browne, of Sydney, has also promised a paper. The correct title of the first paper by Professor Richards and Mr W. H. Biyan, of Brisbane University, is “Radiolarian Rocks in Queensland, ’ and that of Mr Loftus Hill’s paper is “The West Coast Range Conglomerate Series of Tasmania.” The Geological section, in conjunction with the sections in Biology and Geography, will hold a discussion on “The Natural Divisions of Australia”, fas opposed to the political divisions).* The climate of Australia, and its relation to wheat-growing, etc., will be included in the scope of the discussion. The arrangements for the entertainment of the delegates to the Science Congress include afternoon tea at Kelbum Kiosk on the open : ng day of the conference (January 11th), a civic re- • ception at noon on the same day, and a reception at the Pioneer Club to wives and daughters of visiting delegates on a date to be arranged. A strong ladies’ committee has been formed to attend to the entertainment programme.
