BECKETT V. “CARP”

ANOTHER FIGHT IN THE SPRING. The “Westminster Gazette’’ was recently informed by Major Wilson, the boxing promoter, that Beckett’s next fight will he with Oarpentier, either at the end of January or the beginning of February. This is -in consequence of the ban, both in -England and France, against the Senegalese, Siki, who defeated Oarpentier recently. From the point of view of followers of boxing, as well as the public generally (the boxing correspondent adds), this result is a happy one, for it has been recognised that a second meeting between these men was desirable. When they met three years ago Oarpentier knocked out Beckett in 70 seconds.
