AN OLD OFFENDER
THREE CHARGES PREFERRED. CONSORTING'WITH PROSTITUTES. With three charges against her, Elisabeth Wilson, an old offender,i appeared for sentence fit yesterday morn fng’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. The first cnai ge was one of drunkenness. the second that she procured liquor while a prohibited person, and the last charge was that she consorted with convicted prostitutes. She pleaded guilty to the first two charges, but protested her innocence in no uncertain manner upon the third count. . " „ Senior-Sergeant Lander said.the accused'woman had 56 previous convictions against her. -She was in continual consort with convicted prostitutes. He stressed the importance of a long sentence in such a case as this. “A woman such as this one,” said the sergeant, “is no sooner made spruce by the authorities than she is out again and resorting to her old mode of living.” “I hope you won’t send me away for a long time,” pleaded the accused. “Three months,” was the sentence passed on the accused woman. “Thank you,” said Wilson, who evidently expected a longer sentence than 'she received.
