HEARD FOR 650 MILES

EXPLOSION IN HOLLAND. OFFICIAL RECORDS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. AMSTERDAM, November 10. It is officially reported that the explosion at ’Oldebroek to test the theory of sound, was heard at Romilly, in France, 300 miles away, and aiso at places in Austria, 650 miles away. Five tons of perchlorate of ammonia were exploded at Oldbroek, in Holland, to test the theory of audibility and the hypothesis of zones o)' silence after an explosion.
