FUTURE BRIGHT

GREAT BRITAIN’S TRADE COLLIERIES WORKING AT FEVERISH PACE. MANUFACTURERS OPTIMISTIC. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received September 4, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sentember 2. The Welsh collieries had splendid trade during August; the best for many years. Coal is being rushed from the pit -to the seaboard at a pace. Many millions of foreign money nave poured into South Wales in the last six weeks, and the demand for coal for export is likely to continue for some months, although the price hais advanced 7s per ton in a few weeks.

Other industries are also shewing satisfactory enlargement, and it is interesting to note that at yesterday’s meeting of four important companies, dealing with such varied interests as beer, margarine, wholesale drapery, and the West African trade, the chairmen were equally optimistic regarding the future.
