Astill took six wickets for 28 runs and four for 37, and Geary four for 42 and six for 26, bowled throughout' both innings. Kent, 196 for nine wickets (declared) beat' Sussex, 47 and 126, Freeman, in the Becond innings, ' took eight wickets for 56 runs. This is only the twelfth time a-howler has taken seventeen wickets in. a'first-class match, Warwickshire made 244 against Surrey,' who made 104 for two wickets. Play was abandoned; owing to rain. The match between Essox, who had 5 runs on for one wicket against Yorkshire, was also abandoned for the same reason. LEADING PERCENTAGES BATTING AND BOWLING AVERAGES. Yorkshire wins the county championship with a percentage of 75.89. The other leading teams’ figures are;—Notts, 71.53; Surrey, 66.95; Kent, 63.70. The Yorkshire averages are : —Batting: Oldroyd, 45.11 per innings; Sutcliffe, 44.10; Rhodes, 89.36; and Holmes, 39.18.
