The Mitchell Library has received a valuable collection of the papers of Captain Matthew Flinders, the explorer, comprising several volumes in Captain Flinders’s own writing, including the log and journal of HJd. Investigator. The collection also includes the private diary of Captain Flinders from 1803 to 1814, which contains much interesting information regarding h:s discoveries, private doings, ana his term of captivity in Mauritius, The volumes have been presented to the library by Professor, Flinders Petrie, a grandson, conditional , upon the Government erecting a statue to Captain Flinders near the library.
