AN OBSTINATE PEST
AND. BOW TO BEAT TT. In. the House of Representatives yesterday Mr H. M: Campbell addressed a question to the Minister for Agriculture regarding the blackberry pest. He said he had been informed on good authority that blackberry oould be killed by planting panun insignia among it, and he wanted to know if the Minister would adopt a suggestion that an experiment with this idea would be made. At the Worst the pious wood would be useful,. The Hon. W. Noeworthy said that the question of dealing with blackberry was now being considered, but if a pine-planting scheme were undertaken it would mean that a great portion of the country would be; out of action , for grazing and would be turned into forest.
Mr Campbell said that even that would be better than blackberry.
