Trotsky, interviewed, declared that the Soviet Government had already expressed its readiness to reduce the Had Army to a minimum, but tlio ret of Europe did not desire disarman .nt. The Russian army and navy h.nl been reduced from 5,000,000 to 800,000, and would not bo reduced further unless there were genuine changes in the international situation. Insignificant force® - were sufficient to maintain order in Russia.. M. Trotsky, asked if Russia cou'd continue to exist without foreign credits, said he refused to believe that a people numbering 150,000,000 could oollapse whether Credits were received or not. Russia's misery was great, but Europe and the whole world would suffer greater if Russia was not admitted to the world’s economic life.
