Continuing his evidence in the case in which two journalist*, John Sleemnn and Edward Connolly, are charged with attempting to bribe Mr F. Brennan to vote against the party on tho censure motion, Brennan said that he had previously discussed politics with Connolly, but the latter knew witness would not join the Coalition, which, it was supposed, Air Theodore (the Premier) was to lead. Witness decided at the outset to trap Connolly because he believed that the Opposition’s principals, the capitalists, were behind him and witness wanted to expose the principals. Mr Brennan added that arrangements regarding the intervention of detectives were made by Mr Theodore.
