SUDDEN DEATH

MAN COLLAPSES IN STREET. John Oughton, aged 51 years, a seaman on sick leave from the Union ■Company’s steamer Corfnna, collapsed suddenly in. FeatheTston street at five o’clock last evening. He was in company with a man named John Gibb, who, realising that Oughton was in a serious condition, quickly sought assistance. The police were promptly on the scene, and Oughton was conveyed to the hospital, but died ■before he Coached the institution. Dr Gilmer had been attending Oughton, but was unable to give a certificate as to the exact cause of death, so the matter was reported to the coroner, and the usual inquest will be held. Oughton, it is said, was a single man, and it is believed that he has no relatives in New Zealand.
