Prince Albert of Monaco was bom in Paris in IS4B, and was twice married. He succeeded his father, Prince Charles 111., in September, 1889. The heir is Prince Louis, aged 52. Monaco is a small principality on the Mediter. ranean, and its revenue is mainly obtained from the gaming tables. About 1000 of the inhabitants are employed in the rooms and gardens of tho celebrated Casino. Those gambling-rooms, built at Monte Carlo, on gronnd leased till 1913 from the Prince of Monaco, belong to a joint-stoek company, ana hare about 400,000 visitors annually.
