PLUCKY POSTMISTRESSES
STILL ON DUTY AT TAUPO. Whon tho earthquakes in the Taupo district became more severo about a fortnight ago, permission was given to the postmistresses at Wairakei and Oruanui to leave their posts, if they wished to do so. It seems, however, that they have both preferred to remain on duty. Profesor Marsden, who is continuing the investigation into the disturbances, mentions this fact in a communication to the Post and Telegraph Departments He eulogises their devotion to duty, and adds that their work has been of undoubted value to him.
