Climie, organiser of the Canterbury Progress League, concerning tho progress of work at Otirn tunnel, the Publio Works Department says that it is not a fact that the electrio locomotives have arrived and that the ballasting wifi be behindhand. The department states that the only locomotive that has yet arrived is the battery locomotive w'hioh is to be used for inspection purposes when the lino is taken over by the Railway Department. With regard to ballasting, the engineer-in-chief says that there is no reason for supposing that this will be behindhand.
