BOW CROWDED WITH PEOPLE AUCKLAND, June 1. The “Star’s” correspondent wired at ,1.45 p.an.:—“Wiltshire broken in halves; stern disappeared; bow still out of water crowded with people; most fearful scene.” SITUATION BECOMES WORSE. As the tragic, message came through by radio the situation of the men on the wreck grew gradually worse, as indicated by the wireless messages. REPORT PROM KATOA. The Katoa wirelessed at 1.30 p.m. • “My chief officer reports Wiltshire broken in halves; endeavouring to make connection with him.”
