THE INSURANCES

AMOUNTS NOT KNOWN. Unfortunately, no information whatever is available as to the insurance on either the vessel or hpr cargo. The secretary of the Marine Underwriters’ Association, consulted this morning, stated that the facts wouldfj not be ascertainable for months. The insurances were arranged chiefly in England, and the amounts would not ’bo known until the bills of lading had been seen and tho report on the general average was prepared. It was probable that every marine insurance company in New Zealand would be affected.
