MEETING OF RATEPAYERS. SOME QUESTIONS FORi THE MAYOR. At a meeting of tlie Island Bay ratepayers, held last evening, the following resolutions were passed : (1) That this district respectfully asks the Mayor to use his influence with his council in giving a reduction in tram fares, the .cost of travelling for business purposes alone being from X3O to .£6O per annum per family. (2) That this meeting respectfully calls the Mayor's attention to the made by him that as soon as loan money became available the Island Bay tram duplication would be completed, and it aslcs for a fulfilment of the promise. (3) That the Mayor, having etated at a public meeting at Island Bay, that the Government had not stated what the price of hydro-electricity would be to the council, asks him to make a statement as to what the price per unit will be when the Evans Bay installation is in going order, using for calculation purposes present day cost for coal or oil fuel, if the council elect not to take hydro-electricity. Also, the Government having stated'the price per kilowatt since he made the above statement, will he state what the price per unit will be to the consumer if the city use hydro-electricity, and the Evans Bay installation is used only io carry the peak load?
