RIMUTAKA DEVIATION
\ , MASTERTON MOVING. AIINISTER URGED TO PUSH ON. (By Telegraph—Special to “Times.”) MASTERTON, Alay 39. The question of the deviation of the Rimuitaka railway was again discussed by tho Chamber of Commerce this afternoon. A letter from the Alinister for Railways to Air G. Sykes, .M.P., stated that the work of the survey of suggested routes was being pushed on, and would be completed as quickly as possible. After discussion, it was decided that the Alinister for Railways be thanked for his assurance; that tho Minister be urged to put sufficient engineering staff on the survey of the various routes, so that a report can he made and decision arrived at during the coming session: and at the same time expressed’ the. hope, seeing the vital necessity to the district, that the Government will be able to put a vote on the Estimates to commence the actual work of the deviation.
If was decided to forward copies ot the resolution to tho Wellington Chambers of Commerce.
