HARDCOURT TOURNAMENT. The Metropolitan Hardcourt championship tournament, authorised by the New Zealand Tennis Association, will take place on the Brougham Hill, Wellington, and Newtown Club courts on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, April 14th, 15th, and 17th, and if found nocessary will be continued on tbe following date. Mr G., W. Goldie has been appointed referee, and the personnel of the control and management committee is as under:—Messrs C. G. Turner, L. France, G. V. L. Pritchard, W. Hollings, G. F. Wilson, F. W. Reed, and W. H. Stainton.

The play will commence at 9 a.m. each day, and any member not ready to play when called upon will be liable to bo scratched. Entries should be sent to the secretary before noon on Tuesday next, 11th inst. There are the usual five events on the programme, and the president o* tho association. Mr T. C. Peacock, has presented trophies for the men's singles and the ladies' singles. Mr M. Denniston, who is a vice-president of the association. has also given a trophy for the player in the men's singles who doe® beet against the winner of tR? event. COVERED COURTS CHAMPIONSHIP. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received April 7. 8.35 p.m.) LONDON, April 6. In the covered courts tennis championship, Fisher defeated O’Hara Murray. 6-4, 7-5. 6-2. Lycett defeated Dennis Browne (Australian), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, despite Browne's fast service and terrific top spin.
