N.Z. JERSEY BREEDERS
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The council of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association met tit Palmerston North (writes the “Tim4s" correspondent). There were present Mess's E. D. McLennan (Papakura( in the chair, F. Sanford (Stratford), A. E. Misson (Hamilton), E. Griffiths (Now Plymouth), W, H. .Booth (Carterton) and the secretary (Mr W. M. Tapp. Further reference was made to the proposal to consolidate the herd hooks into one volume. To date 18 herd books have ‘Jeen published, and several of them are now out; of print.. Somo timo ago the council circularised, members pointing out that the 'work could be undertaken if 300 of them would agree to subscribe thereto. The secretary advised at this week’s meeting that only 40 members had agreed to subscribe. As this would not- provide' suffioieiit money to finance the publication, it was decided' to abandon the proposal. After somo discussion it was decided to revive the agitation to induce the Government to pay half the cost of freight and insurance on all pedigree stock imported into the Dominion. It was resolved to again approach tho Government in tho matter and at the same time circularise other breeds societies soliciting their co-operation.
