PRODUCERS BOARD ACTIVE POSSIBLE REDUCTION IN RATES OF FREIGHT. LOWER COSTS IN LOADING. The New Zealand Meat Producers* Board sat continuously last week under the chairmanship of Mr David Jones, M.P., all the members being present. A very large amount of correspondence, both from within and without New Zealand, was dealt with, and the future activititE of the board exhaustively discussed and the foundations of a sound* progressive policy laid. The board had a meeting with the representatives of the slumping, companies on Friday, and discussed the possibility of an early reduction in certain rates of freight, also the methods by which the board can co-operate with shipping companies in securing improved methods and lower costs in loading produce in New Zealand. Mr W. D. Hunt was present at the meeting of the board on Friday. The board has secured permanent offices in the Dominion Farmers* Institute Building, Featherston street.
