A JUDGE SURPRISED
SUPREME COURT JURY’S VERDICT. Per Press Association. OHRISTOBURCH, November 1. At the Supreme Court David Irwin was charged with theft from the person. Accused conducted his own defence, and described . the evidence against him as contradictory. Mr Justice Adams, addressing the jury, said the case was a simple one. There was no evidence to contradict the Crown’b case. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, after thirty minutes’ retirement. The judge remarked that the prisoner had been fortunate in the selection of a jury, and discharged the jurors in the case from further attendance during the present sessions.
