SHORT-LANDED CARGOES
INFORMATION FOB IMPORTERS. HARBOUR BOARD'S REPLY. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce at its last meeting forwarded to the Harbour Board a suggestion that within seven days after the discharge of a ship's cargo a list of packages short-lanaed should be placed m a prominent place for the information of importers and agents. The matter was the subject of a reply received from the secretary of the Harbour Board at yesterday's meeting of the Chamber. The secretary stated that the wharves committee of the board, .considering that a claim bureau had already - been installed at the Queen's wharf at which clients might obtain all requisite information regarding cargo short-landed or short-shipped, did hot see any necessity for the special exhibition of such a list. The traffic manager, however, would extend the scope of the bureau as far as possible. It was decided to thank the board for the information.
