MINIATURE RIFLES

THE BROOKLYN CLUB LADIES' TRIANGULAR MATCH. The range of the Brooklyn club u-as taxed to its utmost when the lady members of the club entertained and bred a triangular match against the two other ladies' rifle clubs—Wellington and ketone—last Tuesday evening. This sport with the Brooklyn ladies is causing keen rivalry amongst them, and they- are anxiously looking forward to the championship meeting to be held in the Drill Hall On Saturday, 24th instant. In the match above mentioned, the visitors were not shooting up to form, but the Brooklyn ladies excelled themselves, and came out with an average of 65. Ten ladies composed each side. After the match supper was served by the home ladies, after which Mrs Webb thanked' the visitors for ’coming Up to their range. To Miss Anderson, Mrs Webb presented a handeome hand-mirror, she being the highest scorer amongst the visitors, namely, 68. To Mrs Galvin, of the Petone Club, a vey amusing present was given, as she was the unlucky member of the visiting team. Mrs Wild, on behalf of the Petone ladies, thanked the Brooklyn Club for the pleasant time spent, and congratulated the ladies on the marked improvement they had made in their shooting during the past few months, and concluded by saying that she hoped it was not the last time they would mee* this season. Mi- Robieson, coach of the Wellington ladies’ team, returned thanks on their behalf, and a'lso congratulated the Brooklyn ladies, especially Mrs Graham, with 69 out of 70, on their fine showing,, and he ho-ped that his team would turn the tables at their next meeting. Cheers all round brought a very successful evening to a close.

The monthly euchre party of the Brooklyti Club was also held last week, when a very pleasant time was spent. The winners for the evening were Miss iWilson and Mr Dick, the "booby” going to Miss Talbot and Mr Graham. During the past month sOtne good shooting was done, "possibles’’ being put up by Mrs Tunks, Mrs Wannell. and. Mr Abbott. The "A" team suffered their first defeat this season at the hands of the Railway "A” team, hut the shooting of both sides was not up to A class Standard. Mr Williams, of the Railway Club, put up a Very good possible Card, closely followed by Mrs Webb, of the Brooklyn Glub, with 69. This loss will necessitate another match being fired to decide the champion club for the year.
