Oxford and Cambridge Universities defeated the Cornell and Rrinceton Ira vei’sitiee in the athletic competition, scoring five first places and. six second places. The Americans scored five lusts and five seconds. England won the 100 yards hammer-throwing and the bioad iump, and took first and. second in the lalf-mile. The Americans won the putting the shat, high jump, 440 yaids hurdles, and three miles run. The judges, -after reconsidering their decision, announced that oniy fifsl places would be counted. The Americans and the English therefore tied, y with five points each-
