LOWER HUTT CLU**. EIGHTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING At the eighteenth annual meeting of tve Lower Hutt Bowling and Tenni© Club, Mr "YV. H. Russell presided over a large attendance of members. ANNUA L RETORT. Th© report stated that the receipts for the year showed an increase of £233 18s 9c* over those of i.he previous year, while j Jhe expenditure had risen to the extent i of £209 8s fid. The action .taken last j year in increasing the subscription© had 1 been'"justified, and the club had been I able to pay its way in general upkeep 1 from the subscription revenue. Special mention* was made of the services rendered by Mr W. Nicholson, who had recently severed hi© connection with the club. The fourteenth coin-petition fo« the Puthi© Cup was played on July 141 fi and resulted m a win, for the fifth time, by th© club's representatives— Messrs Trevethick, Teagle. Hod-gins and Mccaskill (e). and Messrs Shearer, Kennington. Eddie, and Hendry (s) "Mr U. G. Teagle’s generosity in advancing th© necessao funds was responsible for the pavilion being equipped with two 9 feet bi'l'ard tables The membership etood at 86 (bowlingh 77 (tennis), and 19 U.rocfUet). The committee recorded with regiet the death of Messrs "W. Cuff and YV. Patterson, and Mrs Barron. Tiie report and balance-sheet were adopted. • ■ .1 ELECTION 'OF OFFICERS. The following were congratulated on winning trophies:—Senior singles and YVilfora Cup. J. Fruieh; junior eingies. A F. Toswill; nomination pairs, J. Goodwin and Davidson; open pans, R. Cctton and Dr Dudley; nomination rink, J. A. McDoutgall, G. T. Goodwin, F. Meyrick J. Davidson. Mr W; H. Russell moved thai Rule 16 be deleted and a new rule substituted, embodying the report of a committee al>pointed to consider the recommendations o- the special meeting held on May 80th. regarding the selection of teams. Mr E. J. Guineas seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring chairman (Mt W. H. Russetl), the retiring general and match committees, and the green superintendent (Mr M. J. Hodgins). ______
