In seven cases fires were caused through lighted matches being thrown down; seven were due to lighted candles coming in contact with curtains; children playing with matches caused the brigade to he summoned in five instances; two fires were started through the practice of smoking in bed. The origin of nineteen fires was unable to be traced; eight were caused by sparks, two by rate nesting, and two by spontaneous ignition, three to the ignition of picture films, three to the fusion of electric wires, and two to hot ashes.
