EASTERN SUBURBS LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING. A GOOD YEAR'S WORK. The annual meeting of tho Eastern Suburbs League was held last night at tho Lyall Bay 6chodLrooin. ALr A. C. Blake, president, representing Lyall Bay, occupied the chair. Other delegates present were Messrs H. W. Pilcher and A. W. Pardon (Seatoun), A. G. Jorgensen and Robert Hill (Kilbirnie), G. P. Anderson and L. G. Chisholm (Melrose), F. W. Downs, C. M. Turnbull and D. McLaren (Roseneath and Oriental Bay), W. A. Worth (South. Wellington), J. M. Bertram and R. A. V. Jones (Lyall Bay). Apologies for absence wore received from Messrs Barnett, Batt and Bayfield (Hataitai). The annual report, already published, was adopted on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr McLaren. Tho chairman reported having- visited various affiliated associations and was well received. He advocated interchange of visits between, various associations. The secretary, Mr Pilcher, was congratulated on his work in connection with tho league. Air McLaren congratulated thtf league on the last year's work. He strongly supported the chairman's opinion that an interchange of visits between tho associations would do good. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr A. C. Blake (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, Messrs A. G. Jorgensen and J. N. Bertram ; committee, .Messrs F. W. Downs, L. G. Chisholm, A. W. Parton, and A. D. Bayfield; hon. auditor, Mr J. L. Arcus; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr H. W. Pilcher. Tho following- motion was moved by tho chairman on* behalf of the ilataitai Association and carried:—“That no matter of policy be dealt with by the league until at loursfc tAvo weeks’ notice of any such proposal Jia« been given to affiliated associations/* Mr D. McLaren gave a detailed report op tho proposed civic league. A motion of thunks was passed to Mr McLaren for hi* kindness in attending and explaining tho draft constitution of tho proposed league. The delegates present decided to Teeorurnend their respective associations to support the civic league.
