NO SATURDAY WORK
SYDNEY PLASTERERS DEFY THE COURT.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, July 19.
Notwithstanding its recent decision in favour of the 44-hour week, the Federal Arbitration Court has refused to abolish Saturday work in the building trades. A number of plasterers absented themselves on Saturday, and the employers declined to re-engage them on Monday unless they would agree to work on Saturdays. A mass meeting of men decided to adhere ’to -the 44hour week of five days.
