THE NEXT ELECTIONS
MARSDEN MEMBER RETIRING. NEW REFORM CANDIDATE. After nineteen years’ political life, Mr F. Mander, the sitting member for Marsden, has announced his intention of retiring from active political life at the end of the present Parliament. Mr G. S. B. Morrison, of Maungatopere, has been selected to represent the Reform interest at the next election in the stead of the retiring member. It was explained by Mr T. Lisle, Reform organiser, that the selected candidate would' be recognised officially bv the Reform Party. Mr Morrison, who is 62 years of age, came from North Canterbury and 1 settled at Maungatapere about 1907, He has been a prominent official of the Formers’ Union. , Mr Francis Mander was elected fo the House of Representatives as member for Marsden in 1908, and has represented that constituency as a supporter of the Reform Party ever since. He wo® bom in Onehunga in 1848, his parents being among the early settlers in the Dominion.
