A FAMOUS “HOAXER”
DEATH OF LOUIS DE ROUGEMONT. (Reuter's Telegram.! (Received June 11, 1.15 a.m.) LONDON, June 10. The death .occurred in the Kensington. Infirmary of the famous “hoaxer*’ Louis de Rougemont. Re ' Rougemont created notoriety some years ago by lecturing before an English scientific body on his alleged extraordinary adventures in Northern Australia. His stories were believed at the time, but were subsequently discredited. Later he contributed a series of “thrillers” to the “Wide World Magazine.” He went to Australia. for the purpose of lecturing on his “adventures,” but was accorded a hostile reception, which compelled him to caned lus engagements.
