The fipst representative Rugby match of the season is to take jijace at Athlefio Park, this afternoon, when the New Zealand, University team for the Australian tour will meet the Wellington representatives. The ’Varsity team is regarded as stronger than last year, and promises to be a really good combination. Fast, open play should be the order of the day. Most of the ’Varsity players have been prominent as inter-island representatives. Otago’s representatives are all well known in, Rugby circles. Harty, the South Island representative, who won tho pair of boots in the last North v. South match for the best forwardon the ground, is in good form. Fea, who was also conspicuous in the last inter-leland game, is the mainstay of the Otago University back division. Perry will be playing half to-day, which) position he occupied in the 1919 North v. South game. Cabot represented South Canterbury last year. From Canterbury there are Jackson and Munro, both Canterbury representatives, and Dalgleish who was in last year’s Southland representative team which ’wrested the Ranfurly Shield from Wellington. Auckland’s representatives for to-day’s game are Mackay, a stocky forward of between 13 and 14 stone, and Maxwell, who is showing great oromise as an attacking five-eighth. Siddells, the burly full-back, will bo seen in action again to-day, and Jackson and Aitken should do well with good inside backs in front of them. The other Victoria College men are Hanson and D. Scott, both hustlers in the loose and tight. With this combination tho University team ought to be able to extend the former holders of the Ranfurly Shield. Wellington is putting a strong team in the field, and given a good day there should he a record Wednesday crowd at the Park to-day. Following are the teams chosen: — N.Z. UNIVEfRSITY. Full-hack, IS.
