CATTLE BREEDERS
ABERDEEN-ANGUS ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING AT HASTINGS. A meeting of the New Zealand Aber-deen-Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association was held at Hastings this week, ' there being present:—Messrs J. A. Macfarlane, T. W. Ellingham, B. Chambers, and A. M. Thompson. Mr B. Macdonald, of Dannevirke, was elected a member of the association, and the resignations of Messrs \V. Branson and Higginson Bros, were received with regret. A letter was received from Mr N. L. Forster, of New South Wales, stating that he had, gained four first and two second prizes in the Aberdeen-Angus class, and that many favourable comments on the appearance and quality had been made. Tbe Aberdeen-Angus took second place in the grand parade. It was resolved/ that the Department of Agriculture be' asked that the names of all official judges be forwarded to the council prior to publication. The secretary reported that he, had been in communication with, the Department of Agriculture with regard to the export of cattle to South America. The present freights <about JBSO per head) exclusive of feed, precluded any business being done in this line. ' It was resolved that the annual pedigree sale be held this year during the second week in October, and also that a general meeting of members be held during the winter show at Palmerston North at 8 o’clock on the evening preceding th» day of the Te Ante-Wanganni football match. Mr Eilingham’s motion that all past presidents of the association be ex-officio members of the council for all time, provided they are financial members of the association, was seconded by Mr Thompson, and carried.
