Banana* are also extremely scarce, and orders usable Jo be met. Plums have now made their departure for the season. Peaches are m extremely meagre supply, and sound values rule. The supply of coconuts have diminishe* considerably,walnuts, however, being i' moderate supply. Good prices are bein* realised for pears, choice and stewing, Superior grades of apples are also popu lar, -with moderate prices ruling. With the exception of the (fruit (mentioned above there is no perceptible change this week, and yesterday’s quotations fot fruit were:— Apples, choice dessert Jonathans 6s M to 7s 6d, Cox’s orange 6s to 86 Scarlet permain 7s to 9s, prime 6s to 7s, others ss; cookers, 5s to 5s 6d, others 4s 6d * pears, choice dessert .favourites 10s to 14s, prime Bs, stewing 6s; tomatoes, ripe 3s to 4s. coloured 3s; lemons, American 37k to 38s case; peaches, choice dessert 8t to 10s; walnuts, Is 2d lb. POTATOES AND ONIONS. A fair demand prevails for potatoes and onions this week, with a slight downward tendency. However.' values are moderate, and were given yesterday as: Potatoes, Hutt JET to J 67 lte ton. Ota Iff j£7 to JES; onions, Puke kobo JE7 to JEIO OTHER IRGETABLES. All choice lines of vegetables have been popular this week, and prices at » fairly satisfactory level. However, there has boon no considerable variation in the market within the last few days. Vegetables of inferior quality are practically a dead letter at the local markets. Quotations for vegetables this week are:— Cabbages, 8s to 10s: cauliflowers, 12* to 14s; encumbers, 4» to 5s case; French beans, 5s to 6s: green peas. 13a to 15or turnips, white 5s to 6s; swedes, 7s 6d to £s rwt; spring onions. Is to Is 6d; marrows. 2s 6d to 3s; carrots, 7s 6d| beetroot, G» to 7s. TOULTRY. Poultry is in fair demand, and. as lasi meek, moderate values have been recorded . There is a tendency for prices to remain firm for some time. Poultry quotations yesterday were: -Hens, 5s to 6s; cockerels, heavy 8s to 9s. light 6s to 7s; ducks, !0s to 14s; geese, 13s; turkeys. Is 2d to Is 4d: dressed pork 7d lbj choppers, 4ld to sd. • EGGS. Values for eggs have undergone a slight decrease this week, and are in good supplv. However, the market is expected to tighten just about Easter again. The latest quotation for eggs is 2* 3d per dozen.
