(By Carbine/’) A final reminder is given that ManaAvatu nominations close to-day. It is intimated in a Press Association telegram from Christchurch that Vespucci has been scratched, for all engagements at the C.J.C. autumn meeting. 4. Press Association telegram from Auckland states that Maioha has been rehandicappod at 9.6 for the Easter Handicap. Tigritiya is one of the early favourites for the Great Easter. The Trentham horseman, A. Reed, rode two winners at tho Ohinemuri meeting on Saturday—Golden Bubble anu Miss Ellice. Eleus, Silver Peak and Rosoday passed through Wellington at the end of last Aveek en route for Ellerslie. where they were to race at Easter* However, after arrival at Auckland, Silver Peak wa s struck by a motor-car and a hind leg was somewhat badly cut. This uia3 r necessitate the cancellation of engagements.* A meeting between Mermin and Rational at "Wellington next month seems to be assured, and there are good prospects of Tho Hawk and Tamatete coming. To get the four in the one race would be a great draw. Mermin is to come to Trentham after running at Riccarton, and it is understood that accommodation will be booked for Rational. A curious mistake was made in the Karangahake Handicap at the Ohinemuri meeting. Owing to the starter misreading his card Golden Bubble was allowed to start from No. 1 instead of No. 7 position. Beginning quickly from his good position, the chestnut put a break on the field, and in the run to the post he was never headed. It looks as if Richmond Main is coming back to form, when he can dead heat with Poitrel over a nine furlong course. Richmond Main did so well in his contests with Artilleryman that it will be interesting to see how he fares this sea--6011.

The Racing Commission, which is at present on the IVest Coast, is expected in Wellington next week. . It -is unlikely that the Commission, will bo here for the Wellington autumn meeting H. Goldfinch has been doing so well at the small meetings of late that someone suggests that if there wore enough Auckland country meetings "Goldie" would lop the list for tho jockeys’ premiership. * In the south they fancy Foo Chow f->r the Great Autumn, but if this confidence is justified he must have improved since he was seen m the North Island. There was a great race for the Ohiueicuri Cup on Saturday. Geoffrey finished up favourite, xvith Gold Kip, Tinohoro, and Eight and Left strongly supported. Tinohoro eoon got to tho front (says the "Star”) and acted as pacemaker till they raced across the top, where the whole field bunched up. Gold Kip shot to the front as they straightened up for the judge, and looked like xvinning easily, but Mai-gamahoe coming along with a strong run got up in the last stride to make a dead heat of it. War Tank xvas half a length axvay, just in front of Gccffrey and Right and Left.
