CATHOLIC SAILORS' WELCOMED
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY.
On Friday evening, Alarch Ilth, the members of St. Joseph’s Branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society entertained the Catholic officers and men from the H.AI.S. Chatham in St. Joseph’s Hall. The president, Mr S. Hyland, extended a hearty welcome to Lieuten-ant-Commander Agar, V.C., D. 5.0., R.N., Mr Farrell. R.N., C.P.O. Downing, K.N., and about twenty-four sailors. During the evening items were given by the following:—Misses A. and_M. Ward, May and M. Doherty, E. Kennedy, O. Connors, M. Billon, E. Quin, Messrs F. Sligo, P. Jepson, E. Higgins, S. 'Hyland, F. Dwan, L. Jensen, and two of the sailors. After supper was handed round, which was in charge of Miss U. Bezar, a dance was held, which was much appreciated . At the conclusion, Mr Downing, officer in charge, thanked all present on behalf of the men for the pleasant evening that had been extended to them
Those in charge wish to thank all who generously contributed items and refreshments. Mr R. Dwyer, secretary, was responsible for the arrangements of the evening.
