The funeral of the late Mr W. D. Powdrell, M.P., took place at Hawera on Saturday. When the body was conveyed to the Thorndon railway station it was followed by the Hon. W .©. F. Oarncross (Speaker of the legislative Council), Sir F. W. Rang (Speaker of the House of Representatives), the Hons. C. J. Parr and E. P. Ree, representing the Ministry, and about 25 members of both Houses. The burial at Hawera was attended by itihe Hon. D. H. Guthrie as representative of the Government. Mr W. Pryor, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, who suffered a breakdown a fortnight ago, is steadily improving, but will not be able to return to business for some weeks yet.
