GASES DEALT WITH YESTERDAY. A MISCELLANEOUS ASSORTMENT. Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., occupied the bench at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, when the fallowing cases were -dealt with. Donald McLean, with one previous conviction. was fined 20e. in default 24 hours for drunkenness, and one first offender was dealt with in the usual manner. INSULTING LANGUAGE. Michael Joseph Noon was charged with drunkenness and also with using, insulting Language on a tramcar. It was stated that Noon was riding on the car, an! whan asked for his fare made use of insulting Language, and challenged tho conductor to fight, and had to be put off tho car. A fine of ss, in default 24 hours, was imposed for drunkenness, and 40s, in default eeven days, for insulting language. For drunkenness, John Doherty was fined. ss, in default 24 hours, and for using obscene language a fine of *B3, in default fourteen days, was imposed. ON LICENSED PREMISES. Bertram Vile, a taxi proprietor, for whom Air O’Donnell appeared, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being found on the licensed premises of the -Royal Hotel after hours. The defendant stated that ho 'had gone into the hotel to consult the proprietor ou a business matter. After hearing evidence, the case was dismissed. THREATENING BEHAVIOUR. Anthony Timothy King and Thomas Loftus were each charged with drunkenness and with Using threatening behaviour on the Queen’s wharf. It was stated that the men had had a "standup” fight, thereby causing a -breach of the peace. A fine of ss, dn default 24 hours, was imposed for drunkenness, ani 40s for threatening behaviour. “DRILL DODGERS.” For failing to attend drill, tho following were fined: —John James Balo, 10s an.l costs; Charles E- Binns, 103 and costs. Gordon E. Blackburn, 10s and costs; V. Edmonds, 10s and costs: W. L. -Larsen, 10s and costs; Albert Madclock, 108 and costs; Alfred H. Mudge. 10s and costs; E. J. Murray, 20s and costs; Eric V.
