NAURU PHOSPHATE
NEW ZEALAND SUPPLY.
The Minister for Agriculture (Hon. W. Nos worthy) informed a “Times” representative yesterday that the c.i.f. price for Nauru and Ocean Island phosphate at the five main ports, in cargoes of from 4000 to £OOO tons, is 85s per ton. This price rules until June 30th, when the priie v.-ill depend on tho freight rates that can he secured. All sales by the New Zealand Government are c.i.f. “I may mention (added the Minister) that the treatment received by phosphate rock in New Zealand is of two kinds. It is either ground very finely, in which form it is used for top dressing and for mixtures ip districts where conditions are favourable—namely, where the rainfall is giod; or it is grounl and converted into su perph osphate." ’
