MR STOREY IN LONDON
N.S.W. LEGISLATION 'EXPOUNDED FINANCIAL NEEDS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, March 0. Mr John Storey (Premier of New South Wales), responding to the toast of his health at the Labour Party dinner at the House of Commons, expounded the New South Wale® legislation including the Fair Rents, AntiProfiteering, Workmen’s Compensation, Rural Banking, and Soldier Settlement Act®. Mr Clynes, who presided,- said he Was hopeful that in the near future the Labour Party would succeed to power in Great Britain- The temper of the people seemed to have altered, as was evidenced by Hie results of the
reoent three by-elections. Apparently the people were becoming distrustful of Mr Lloyd George. Mr Storey, in an interview with the Australian Preqs Agency, aaid the Labour Party took the keenest interest in his account of progressive legislation, and had asked him to forward copies. The general opinion was that Australia was more courageous that any country in the world in ■ experimental legislation. . . »
Mr Storey hid a long interview with Mr Nivison (banker) to-day. Afterwards he lunched with the directors of the London and Westminster Bank, and discussed New South Wales’® finances, particularly in reference to meeting loans aggregating seven millions which are maturing within eighteen months, and also the possibilities of exploiting America for new loans. He resumes nis discussion with Air NiMK>n and the directors next week.
