LIFT CRASHES

AN INCIDENT OF 1919. VICTIM CLAIMS DAMAGES. A further adjournment for legal argument, pending a settlement, Was granted by Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., in the action taken by Alfred P. Dryden, carrier, Wellington, against Misses Anastasia C. Kennedy and Agnes A. Kennedy for the sum of £SO, as general damages, and £l3O 17s 6d as special damages jn connection with an accident. sustained by the plaintiff in an elevator in Kennedy’s Buildings, Lower Cuba street, some months ago. Plaintiff was employed by Colledgo and Co., Ltd., tenants of the building, and whilst the plaintiff was in the lift on December 19th, 1919, the lift suddenly crashed down from an upper floor to the basement, carrying the plaintiff with it.

As a result of tbe crash the plaintiff was seriously injured and rendered u coon scions. His faco was badly cut and his chin was also gashed to tbe bone. Including other injuries, the tendon of his right foot was strained.. As a result of the accident the plaintiff was seriously disfigured and partially incapacitated. Mr R. Kennedy appeared for tbe plaintiff and Mr G. G. Watson for the. defendants.
