SHIPPING ACTIVITY

LINERS COME ALONCSIDE BUSY TIME ON WATERFRONT YESTERDAY. OVERTIME WORKED. The clearing-up of the labour difficulty on the waterfront resulted yesterday m unwonted activity in shipmg at Wellington One after another, sometimes close in each other’s wake, tho big liners that crowded tho anchorage m the stream got under way and ciuue a longside their allotted berths nt the wharves. The harbourmaster (Captain J. Dawson) and his staff had ;n exceptionally busy day, but arrangements for the berthing of . the licet were carried out without a hitch. , The vessels that have been lying idle came alongside in the following order: Kanna (8 a.m.), Pakeha (9.45 a.m.), Garbeta (9.50 a.m.), Rosamond (10 a.m.), Koranui (11.20 a.m.), Calm (11 k 10 a.m.), Northumberland (noon), Athenic (12.5 p.m.), Otsrnma (12.40 p.m.), Kunhine (1 p.m.), Rimutaka (1.30 p.m.). West Camargo (4.15 p.m.), Dorset (4.20 p.m.), and Kumaia (5.15 p.m.). The vessels worked, yesterday are listed as follows: —Rimutaka, Otarama, Northumberland, Moana, A theme, Ruahine, Pakeha, Calm, Kanna, Rosamond, Garbeta, Koranui, Admiral Codrington, Roha. Of the above vessels all are discharging except the Ruahine and Pakeha, which aro loading for Home. The Kumara and Dorset were berthed at Clyde quay wharf and the West Camargo at the Queen’s wharf,but were not worked yesterday. The Zealandie, which has cargo to load, will probably berth this afternoon in the place now occupied by the Admiral Codringbon, which is expected to complete operations to-day. All the Union Steam Ship Company’s steamers were working yesterday. The “mosquito fleet” were also busy with their cargo yesterday and some of the smaller boats are expected to leave port to-day. WORKED OVERTIME.

The following vessels worked overtime last evening up till 10 o’clock.:— Admiral Codrington. Northumberland, Otarama, Moana, Athenic, Rimutaka, Rosamond, Kcranui, Kanna, Calm, Ruahine, Pakeha, Garbeta and Rona (barque).
