EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AIEJETS. TEST ITEMS SELECTED. At a meeting of the executive council of the above society, held last evening, Air F. G. Cray presided. Air J. F. Alontague, of Auckland, wrote again offering a. gold medal for Shakespearean recitation. The offer

was accepted with thanks. The appointment .of judges in the music and elocution sections was referred to the finance committee with power to act. The selection committee submitted the following test items, which were adopted —Elocution ; Girls under 9, “When She Went Out to Tea” ; 9-12, “The Child’s Wonder” ; 12-14, “The Sin of Omission”; 14-16, “Scandal” ; boys under 9, “His Sixth Birthday”; 9-12, .“The House of Top Much Trouble” ; 12-16, “The English Language” ; Competitions Society Scholarship, 16-21, “The Old Sedan Chair”; New Zealand author, “I Wonder” ; ladies’ restricted, “Ginevra” • ladies’ recitation, “The Old Stage Queen”; ladies’ test recital, “Gathering Peaches” ; ladies’ Shakespearean, “Queen Katherine's Defence” ; special Shakespearean, “Oranmer’s Speech”; recitation, gentlemen, “The Ride of Paul Venarez” ; men’s restricted, “Dickens in Onmp”; test recital, men, “In an Indian Garden”; Shakespearean, “Polonius’s Advice to Laertes”; Alusic: Juvenile choir, “I Would That Aly Love,” accompanied, and “Wert Thou in the Cauld Blast,” unaccompanied; Children’s Chorus, 12-16, “Birdie’s Message,” unaccompanied; Chorus under 12, “Land to the Leeward Ho,” accompanied; male choir contest, “Soldiers’ Chorus” (“Faust”); choir contest, “Send Out Thy Light” ; quartette, mixed voices. “Sea Hath Its Pearls”; male quartette, “The Trumpeter.” A number of offers for special prizes w;.s received with thanks, ffnd the finance committee submitted the revised prize-list, which was adopted.
