TRANSFUSION Ti/ SAVE YOUNG BOY. LONDON, November 20. A dozen ex-service men, a few exofficers, a buxom widow, a healthy complexioned and handsome young city woman, and several other people visited St. Mary's Hospital, Praed stre-t, 1 today, to offer a pint of blood to save the life of a boy. They came in response to an announcement in the morning's papers which contained an offer of JfcJO to the person selected for the transfusion After nine teats a man with suitable blood waa found in the person of C. W. Biebert. an ex-eeaman, of Boundary road, Walthamstow, but as a lady member of the hospital had already offered to undergo the operation, and had been found euitable, a definite decision was not immediately made, and the exeeaman will be advised by wire. The ex-seaman three years ago gave a Bint of his blood to save a comrade in laslar Hospital. The boy for whom the blood is necessary is Bernard Venis, thirteen, a student at the Regent street Polytechnic. He was taken ill a week ago, and yesterday the doctors decided that blood transfusion was essential if hia life was to be saved. Mr Bam Harris, a friend of the fumily, who is an ex-lightweight boxer, .and is now on the music-hall stage, immediately offered himself, but his blood warn found to be too strong.' A policeman was also tested, but his blood was also unsuitable.
