ALTERATIONS TO HOTEL
BUILDING CONTRACTOR'S CLAIM,
A claim for .£l6B lis 6d for labour and material supplied in respect of certain, alterations, etc., carried out by a buildin<* contractor for the licensee of the Wellington Hotel, was the subject of a reserved decision delivered by Mr J. S. Evans, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, when W. H. Nimmo (Mr T. Young), proceeded against Mrs -Kate Wilkinson (llr H. Von Haast) .to recover the sum stated for alterations to buildings. . His Worship said the alteration did not necessarily eet the original contract at large, and the burden of proof, the probabilities and the weight of evidence established the defendant's version. Finally, His Worship said that he did not know to what extent the estimates made for the • plaintiff were affected by the difference in prices, and he must therefore accept the a;reater estimate put in by defendant. Judgment was therefore given for tho amount paid into court (£126). Costs were allowed defendant.
